Temples

My newly completed project ‘Temples’ was presented to the judging panel at IdeasTap yesterday. The judges consisted of Peter Marlow, Fiona Rogers and Mark Power of Magnum Photos, Diane Smyth from The British Journal of Photography, Adrian Mott from University of the Arts London and Pierfrancesco Celda (previous IdeasTap Photographic Award winner). My work was met with mixed reviews, some very positive, some very negative, which is perfect as I can’t stand work that sits on the fence.

After some criticism from the professionals I thought it’s about time I shared the work with the public. So here it is, enjoy!

Aston Marina

As you may (or may not) have noticed I have been fairly quiet for a while now, in fact this is my first post this year! With the deadline for submission of my latest project ‘Temples’ to the IdeasTap Photographic Award finals I have been focusing my energy entirely on that alone. Well…not entirely, I did have time to make a quick trip back up to Staffordshire to do a shoot for one of my favourite restaurants; Aston Marina. The marina was one of my regular haunts as a student, I just couldn’t get enough of their food and so I was delighted when they became my newest client. Delighted and surfeited!

Exactly one week tomorrow until I submit ‘Temples’. As I prepare myself for the final sprint to the finish line I can’t help but dream of what it might be like to actually win this thing, get to Magnum and begin making some serious headway on the career I have dreamt of for so long. Wish me luck!
