Temples

My newly completed project ‘Temples’ was presented to the judging panel at IdeasTap yesterday. The judges consisted of Peter Marlow, Fiona Rogers and Mark Power of Magnum Photos, Diane Smyth from The British Journal of Photography, Adrian Mott from University of the Arts London and Pierfrancesco Celda (previous IdeasTap Photographic Award winner). My work was met with mixed reviews, some very positive, some very negative, which is perfect as I can’t stand work that sits on the fence.

After some criticism from the professionals I thought it’s about time I shared the work with the public. So here it is, enjoy!

IdeasTap Photographic Award Final

Last night at the newly opened Photolounge gallery, London, the six finalists for the IdeasTap Photographic Award (in association with Magnum Photos) were announced by Magnum photographer Peter Marlow. I was lucky enough to be one of them. Before the announcement I was full of nerves, so much was resting on these results. As the winner of £1,500 towards my next project: ‘Temples’, I am now able to pursue my aspirations and get stuck into some serious photography. The exhibition was a lot of fun, I met some very interesting people and spoke with some great minded photographers. Photolounge feels like a real venue, with no donations boxes or overpriced gift shops. Just four concrete walls, full of photographs. I can’t thank IdeasTap and Magnum enough, they have provided me with the tools and opportunities I needed to survive in this over populated cut-throat industry. It is these kind of charities and organisations that keep peoples spirits alive.
